Apollonas Glykas (b.Athens, 1983) studied photography at Leica Academy and graduated from Athens School of Fine Arts with distinction in 2011. His work encompasses sculpture, installations, painting and photography.
He collaborates with architecture firms developing installations, he works as a photographer since 2000 and teaches drawing and painting since 2010.
His works have been presented in Greece and abroad, and have been awarded by National PostBank (2009), Panathinaikos FC (2010), IOAS Institute for road safety (2010), and recently from Hellenic Railways Organisation OSE – Code Rail Art (2017 – The artwork will be permanently featured in a central train station).
Solo exhibitions include: Past the plasmatic oasis (Nicosia, 2014), Showcase (the Office Gallery, Nicosia, 2011), Buildings (Casa Maccheroni, Milan, 2004).
He has participated in multiple group exhibitions including: Shell–the-politics-of-being (Kypseli Athens, 2018), Picture this / the symptom projects (Amfissa, 2017), {Un}known destinations (Kypseli Athens, 2017), To express the feelings of a chair when we sit on it (The office gallery, Nicosia, 2016), The eye and the finger (Cartabianca, Arles, France, 2015), Dialogue #1, thehuman condition” (K.E.E.T., Athens, 2012), Demokratie in bewegung / Democracy in motion, dedicated to Joseph Beuys (Athens school of fine Arts in Collaboration with Omnibus for directDemocracy & Goethe Institute, Athens, 2009).
