Born in 1972, Robert Montgomery is a poet, artist and sculpture based in London. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland and then in the core program at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston in the U.S Montgomery works in a “melancholic post-situationist” tradition, creating installations primarily in public spaces. He is regarded as a leading figure in the conceptual art world due to his billboard and fire poems, light pieces, woodcuts and watercolors. He has presented many solo exhibitions in various places around the world such as in Nicosia, Cyprus for the Office Gallery, in New York for the C24 Gallery and in Instanbul for Istanbul 74. He has also participated in several art festivals and venues such us the Athens festival in Greece, the Edinburgh festival in Scotland and the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in India. One interesting fact that proves that Montgomery’s work goes beyond art fairs and gallery exhibitions is his latest participation in the presentation of Valentino’s Romantic Fall Collection 2019 where his works where incorporated in haute couture.
