Since its start in 1993, Buzz Rickson’s has continued to revive numerous masterpieces delivered to the U.S. military into the modern era. To celebrate our 30th anniversary and launch eyewear, we commissioned the craftsmen of American Optical, which has a history of working with the U.S. military, to create a collaborative model at our workshop in Illinois, USA. As a brand that has continued to reproduce American vintage military clothing, they have now released genuine sunglasses that are made in the USA. This model is based on the FG58 (Flight Goggles 58), which was adopted by the U.S. Air Force in 1958 as sunglasses for pilots. It has features sought after by pilots, such as a straight bayonet temple that allows it to be worn while wearing a helmet or headset. This model is also famous for being used by the Apollo 11 crew in 1969, and the original version is on display at the Smithsonian Institution.

We discovered this cult brand in consultation with Liam Morrison Phillips.
