Angella Nazarian is a noted speaker and the bestselling author of Visionary Women, Life as a Visitor, and Pioneers of the Possible, all published by Assouline. Nazarian was a professor of psychology and faculty member at Mount Saint Mary’s College, California State University Long Beach, and Los Angeles Valley College for eleven years. She has been a keynote speaker at events including the YPO-WPO Global Leadership Conference in Los Angeles and the YPO Women’s Lean In Conference in Miami, and has conducted various workshops and seminars related to women’s personal growth, innovation, and leadership. Nazarian is the co-founder and president of Visionary Women, a nonprofit women’s leadership organization in Los Angeles that brings together some of the world’s most dynamic leaders.
In the same series as her bestselling title Visionary Women, published by Assouline in 2015, author Angella Nazarian continues to chart the lives of inspiring and groundbreaking personalities, this time with a focus on couples. Doing a deep-dive into the stories of fifteen couples who motivate one another, work together, and change lives as a team, Nazarian explores the various forms a couple can take, and how differently they can operate, from living on separate continents to being artistic collaborators. Ranging from the iconic Parisian couple that is Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, to the mysterious Rei Kawakubo and Adrian Joffe, Creative Couples is an insightful journey into the most intimate moments in the relationships of legendary painters, filmmakers, philosophers, and even the Queen. Each text takes into account the history of both halves of the pair, how they impact each other’s work, and what makes them stronger together. As the book traverses historical milestones and cultural change, be it in France, Chile, or Japan, it consistently returns to the importance of strong duos and how two people and their individual talents merging can be incredibly powerful. Nazarian tells fifteen timeless tales with impeccable attention to detail, and manages to weave singular lifestyles, from that of Lou Reed to Prince Philip’s, with the thread of the inimitable bond between two human beings.

The illustrated market has become integral to the worlds of luxury, fashion and design. Assouline has actively contributed to this growth by creating the highest quality book-objects whose distinctive graphic identity and editorial savoir-faire have captured imaginations, addressing new themes in a contemporary manner. The brand, with its style and vision, is a true pioneer. Beginning in the mid-90s, Assouline brought the illustrated book market to life with products that were modern, luxurious and creative. Today, the luxury book market has become an indispensable tool for luxury brands. Because of decreased visibility in print publications whose distribution has dramatically plummeted and the rise of digital media and “influencers,” luxury brands need a “tangible” product to define their DNA and position themselves in the marketplace. This presents an opportunity for brands to describe their heritage, define their style and bring their creations to life for their international clientele as well as the business world.
