The US military devised a tactic to use helicopters in the Vietnam War to send large amounts of troops directly to the front lines. In the jungle of Vietnam, helicopters that can move freely to destinations on roads and wetlands, rather than trucks and armored vehicles, were very useful in various situations such as transporting troops, transporting injured soldiers, and attacking from the air. During such times, the so-called helicopter crew jacket worn by helicopter crew was adopted. When the Vietnam War broke out, various munitions and supplies were sent from the continental United States to Vietnam. Although there are usually strict mil-specs for military equipment, they tended to be relaxed to some extent during the war and left to the field. At the time of the Vietnam War, it was possible to tailor custom-made jackets at a very low price locally, so it was popular for soldiers to make special orders using locally procured materials or materials delivered from their home countries. The material used for this jacket was cotton poplin, which was successfuly used as jungle fatigues. Lightweight and dries quickly, considering the tropical climate.
